AS Roma coach Paulo Fonseca Coach Addicted to Win
AS Roma coach Paulo Fonseca claimed he wanted to get up soon after the Wolves of the Capital succeeded in ending the victory drought this year. The statement was delivered after the Giallorossi beat Parma with a score of 2-0 to ensure qualification for the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia 2019/2020, Friday (17/1).
Two Rome winning goals printed by Lorenzo Pellegrini. Roma will next face off against Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, the middle of next week.
‘Yes, we play to win and qualify for the next round to meet Juventus. It will be a difficult match at home to us, but we must always go to the field to win,’ Fonseca was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
In the match against Parma, Roma coach did a little experiment by applying a 3-4-2-1 formation by placing Cristante playing as a central defender. This is the first time the club has played with such a scheme.
Nevertheless, Fonseca said he was happy with the way the players applied the strategy he applied to the playing field. ‘With three defenders, we controlled Parma’s counterattack and tried to get in, which they did. The point is, I like this formation and I don’t know if we will play like that again, but it’s certainly an option,’ Fonseca explained.
Fonseca wants to dedicate this victory to Nicolo Zaniolo who is still lying down for the recovery process after his right knee surgery. ‘I send his best support and hope for him. This victory is for him. We apologize for the injury he suffered, but as I said, he must stay strong and we must support him.’
